Today’s Eatin’ and Workin’
I’m going to attempt to do something over the next couple months and that is share with you what I eat everyday as well as my personal workouts.
I’m doing this as a way to share with folks what a fitness/nutrition expert actually does on a daily basis - both so you can see how simple it is, as well as the flaws that I have. All too often people think I eat perfectly, or say “You can eat whatever you want and still stay in shape.” which is total horse shit. I’m a 32-year old, self-employed husband and dad of a 5-year old and 8-month old which all means I’m a ball of stress…happy stress, but stress nonetheless and if you live in a state of stress, you can’t “eat whatever you want” and stay in shape, nor would I want to. Actually scratch that because I do eat whatever I want and what i want is to eat healthy most of the time and indulge whenever the hell I please, which is what I’m assuming most folks want to do as well.
Okay, now that I got that ramblin’ and babblin’ over with, let’s get on with today’s eatin’ and workin’…
5:15am - mixed up my “greens” drink. Just water and my magical powder. Then made my smoothie consisting of blueberries, raspberries, chia seeds, probiotic powder, protein powder and some “greens” juice. I drink this every day on my way to the studio.
8:30am - Ate a Cliff bar and 2 apples as a snack. Ordinarily I eat snacks that are homemade - homemade protein bars, fruit or homemade mixture of trailmix, but today I didn’t have any of that so had to go with the Cliff bar. Not bad…but great either.
12:45pm - Lunch. Big ol’ spinach salad with broccoli, cashews, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds as well as my favorite dressing in the whole wide world - Dorothy Lynch. Not great, but i don’t smother it like I used to…and it tastes awesome!
I also had a small Snickers bar from Maren’s stash of candy :)
I didn’t eat anything else until dinner which was chilli along with a crescent roll. Damn tasty on a cold night!
My workout was pretty benign today because I suffered a bit of overtraining last week and didn’t want to overdo it since my stress levels are also a bit high.
I rode the stationary bike for about 20 minutes at an easy pace just to keep a sweat going and did a resistance tube workout which felt pretty good. I’ll hit the workout tomorrow pretty hard since I felt great after that wussy workout today…and no more “cardio” for a while either because it’s boring as hell.
As I write this it’s 6:50pm which means I’ll probably have a snack later on. Because Andrea just made some granola so I’ll probably eat that with a little almond milk. Not too much, and not too little :)
Have a great night!
I’ll be back tomorrow with that update…
